The first bear I made was from a kit, it was a little 10” bruin – this character came out looking just like my father-in-law, so I gave it to him for Christmas - After that there was no stopping me and I decided that I would learn some techniques, so I purchased some good bear making books and then decided to play around a little and designed my first pattern. I really feel that I have found my look now and hopefully if you see my bears you may recognise certain qualities that make them a special Bradley Bear. I tend to make bears that would appeal to my own personal taste, I like to be quite intricate with added details such as beeswaxed noses, sculpted cashmere paws and some challenging designs such as open-mouth bears with teeth. I also like my bears to be quite a nice weighty feel like little babies in your arms and each one comes fitted with a wobbly head to give them more of a life-like appeal - At the moment I am making mostly one-of-a-kinds and maximum editions of three on popular bears. I have become heavily addicted to buying mohair and to this very day just cannot stop making bears – if people didn’t keep buying them from me I would have a serious problem as my whole house would be lined from floor to ceiling with bears….not that I would mind as I do fall in love with each one as they are born and sometimes I find it quite hard to part with them, but I just get such a buzz out of making other people happy and so far that has been happening quite a lot, so it makes it all seem worthwhile. This is just the best hobby I have ever had! ALL
